thomas sadoski-2Sadoski's award-winning stage career began as an understudy to Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rosenthal and Mark Rosenthal in an Off-Broadway production of Kenneth Lonergan's play This is Our Youth at Second Stage Theatre. This was his first of many productions by the company that is based in New York. He has been in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, and also in numerous productions of regional theaters. In 2008, he originated the role as Greg in Neil LaBute's play Reasons to be attractive for MCC Theatre alongside The Newsroom co-star Alison Pill. It was an acclaimed Off-Broadway play that was a huge success and sold to the max. In April 2009, it was moved to Broadway where it received three Tony Award nominations: Best Actor: Sadoski; Best Actress: Marin Ireland; Best Play as well as three Drama Desk Award nominations: Best Actor, Best Director, Terry Kinney and Best actor. 6. Neil LaBute credited Sadoski with the shift in tone of Reasons to Be Pretty from previous plays. He commented: "His thoughtfulness and good heart made it impossible to be able to revert back to anything I've previously produced." My plays conclude with a dark tone. While I was of the opinion that gray was real I was taught by him that there are many shades of life. In 2011, he played the character as Trip Wyeth in Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities for which he won an Obie Award and Lucille Lortel Award. After a sell-out Off-Broadway performance in November of 2011 The play was then moved to Broadway and was given the award of the title of Outstanding New Off-Broadway Performance by the Outer Critics Circle. Sadoski, Ben Stiller, Edie Failco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Alison Pill, and Alison Pill were also seen on Broadway in John Guare's House of Blue Leaves.
