Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. She has released over 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk rock and alternative rock but includes influence from hip music and jazz. Ani Difranco has been deemed to be a feminist legend and Grammy award-winning. Being one of the women's first artists of the 1990s, DiFranco created her own label. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had been in contact while at an institution called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian descent, and her mother is from Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and performed the track 32 Flavors. The track was released on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. The song was featured in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was discovered that she was hosting a 3-day workshop on a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. It was postponed however, some (including the media) did not see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco offered an apology just a few weeks following. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger style, but she's collaborated with many artists and genres including Pete Seeger to Chuck D. Her home is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. She started writing songs when she was 14 years old. The songs she performed in bar and cafes throughout her teenage years. DiFranco was a graduate aged 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School, began taking classes at Buffalo State College. The baritone Ani plays is an individualized Alvarez guitar, which was designed following several consultations with Chrys the Alvarez artist representative during the time. It features their System 600 amp and is all made from solid woods, including a cedar-top mahogany body and sides featuring an ebony fretboard. DiFranco lives at home with her two kids at home in New Orleans and Lefty, their canine companion who's always in the frame. DiFranco admits she is experiencing mixed emotions about her past career, which spans three years. Singer-songwriter and punk/folk musician Ani DiFranco attained musical heroine recognition at age 25 in the eyes of both her fans and critics after her seventh release Not A Pretty Girl in 1995. She then had even more acclaim and recognition through Dilate the following year. From her debut album Looking Glass, Brandy is an 1972 American pop-rock song. Elliot Lurie wrote the song.
